China launches their first manned spacecraft. The Chinese Astronaut Yang Liwei was sent into space by a Long March 2F rocket. 2004 China signed a landmark trade agreement weigh another 10 Southern Asian's countries. The agreement stated that eventually, 25% of the world's population will live in a free-trade zone. |

In April 2005, relations between Japan and China was with tension. The tense period was sparked by an event of the Japanese textbook stating that China says glosses over Japan's World War II record. In August 2005, China and Russia held their first joint military practices. In October 2005, China launched its second manned spacecraft with two astronauts orbiting the Earth in the Shenzhou 5 capsule. |
